So, you want a quote for a Tshirt Blanket?
Tshirt Blanket Vs. Tshirt Quilt. Wait… there is a difference?
Before getting started, it is important to know that I make tshirt blankets not tshirt quilts. The difference between the two is that quilts are usually lined inside with a stiff material, backed with cotton and top stitched with a design. My tshirt blankets do not have the inside material, are not top stitched, and are backed with fleece instead.
I often describe this to my customers by saying “This ain’t your grandma’s quilt”. The benefits of getting a blanket vs. a quilt is overall comfort and coziness as well as price. Because of the casualness of the tshirts and the cozy fleece back, these blankets are designed to be used and enjoyed. Quilts, although beautifully done, often wind up very stiff/hard and end up just getting folded up to be displayed somewhere.
The blanket design is also more affordable, because of the way they are made—tshirt blankets can be made in much less time than a quilt therefore passing the savings on to you! In my research the pricing, quilt options have been 2 to 4 times more expensive than the blanket option.
I am sorry if you were looking for a quilt but If a blanket is what you are looking for—carry on!
Figure out your customer type!
Use these 3 steps to get an estimate of about how much your tshirt blanket would cost and how big the final product would be. The process for “getting a quote” isn’t as simple as you think—many factors go into the decision like size, borders, and other customizable options and often I find there are 2 types of customers, neither are better than the other but it’s funny and worth noting.
Customer 1:
Will meticulously sort and label each shirt and give me all the instructions they would like to see for the final product and know exactly what they can/want to spend.
Customer 2:
Will get me a box of shirts without any clue of how many they have or what they want but just to “Make it a good size blanket, I trust you”, and will get the price once I’ve been able to sort through things for the customer to make the final approval.
