About

Hello!

My name is Lauren Green and I live in Lafayette, Louisiana with my partner, Jared and our 2 dogs, Blue and Deuce. I am originally from Jennings,LA but moved to Lafayette while I attended the University of Louisiana where I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration in 2011. We are avid Ragin Cajun sports fans and you can regularly catch us attending games throughout the year, especially football.

I started making tshirt blankets after college when I wanted to make one with all of my sorority tshirts. I am a member of Tri Sigma and if you know anything about sorority women it is.. we love a good tshirt.. so I had A LOT to work with! After looking for vendors online I quickly realized that if I wanted a blanket I would have to fork out $800-900 for the size I would need with the amount of shirts I had. But the thing is.. I could sew and I had my own sewing machine, so naturally I decided I could just do it myself and save the money. Needless to say, my first blanket turned out.. a little rough, since I didn’t actually know what I was doing and didn't know what tools I actually needed. But it was mine and I had pride that I made it and only I noticed the imperfections—others thought it was great and so many people started telling me that they wanted me to make theirs. But I quickly turned them down because It was hard and time consuming to do! I didn’t make another blanket until a few years later after deciding to make one for someone as a gift. This time I invested in some tools that would help me along the way to be more efficient and I was able to figure out exactly what I needed to do to fix the mistakes I had made on mine.. and the rest is history!

Now I offer my talents to those looking at getting a blanket made with their most memorable and treasured tshirts.

You may be asking, What sets my blankets apart from others?

I work with you from the beginning to end to create a fully custom blanket. Because I'm not a large company, I'll be able communicate with you along the way for you to see the progress, make any changes, and give final approval before the sewing begins. There are so many different patterns or add-ons that can make your blanket truly unique to you and it's something I noticed while researching other companies lack. They only offer the basic grid shapes, with limited sizes, with no custom border options, where with me I can do whatever you picture your blanket to look like.

Although this time custom doesn't automatically mean expensive! Another factor that sets my blankets aside from others is that they are AFFORDABLE. The reason I started making blankets to begin with was because I did not want to buy a blanket that cost as much as my monthly rent! I believe my prices are fair for the amount of time and supplies that go into creating a blanket and everything is priced where I would personally be willing to pay for it.

It is important to know that I make tshirt blankets not tshirt quilts. The difference between the two is that quilts are usually lined inside with a stiff material, backed with cotton and top stitched with a design and take alot more time to complete. My tshirt blankets do not have the inside material, are not top stitched, and are backed with fleece instead. The blanket design is more affordable, because of the way they are made—tshirt blankets can be made in much less time than a quilt therefore passing the savings on to you! In my research, quilt options have been 2 to 4 times more expensive than the blanket option.

I often describe this to my customers by saying “This ain’t your grandma’s quilt”. The benefits of getting a blanket vs. a quilt is overall comfort and coziness as well as price. Because of the casualness of the tshirts and the cozy fleece back, these blankets are designed to be used and enjoyed! Quilts, although beautifully done, often wind up very stiff/hard and end up just getting folded up to be displayed somewhere. One of the most common compliments I have received from past customers is that they love the fleece back and how comfortable the blanket is.
